Cupcake Exploding Box Card - The Crafty Spark

Cupcake Exploding Box Card

I LOVE cupcakes, especially my friend Helen's ones (hint hint Helen!).  I was asked to do a card for a special 14 year old's birthday so what better than a cupcake!  Now obviously it can't be a real cupcake as that would end up in my tummy smelly and mouldy so I made one out of paper and chiffon...

Just to warn you, this post is a bit image heavy but it's worth it I promise!

You know, I've just realised the Stampin' Up! card colours I've used are pretty yummy too - yummy in the foody sense as well as yummy in the colour sense! From the 2013-2015 In Colour Collection -  Pistachio Pudding for the outside layer and lid, Strawberry Slush for the matting layers and then not foody, but very girley, Pink Pirouette for the inner layer MMMMMmmmmmm nom nom :)  The sad part is that Stampin' Up! are retiring the 2013-2015 In Colours this year so if you love these colours as much as I do... GET THEM QUICK!

Hunting through my stash of papers, I found this wonderful cupcake pattern paper which matched perfectly with what I was making.  Doesn't it look super cute - I love it!

Staying with the foody theme, the inside of the card is stamped with Strawberry Slush and Crisp Cantaloupe Ink Pads - perfect match don't you think?  Being the lucky lady that I am, I already had the Itty Bitty Punch Set so used the cute heart and flower to give my stamping a little more pizazz and I love the way it's come out :)

Now I don't know about you, but I find the only problem with this style card is where to write your little ditty to the recipient.  So to solve this I always put a little pocket onto one of the flaps to put a little card into.  Stampin' Up! do have a cupcake punch but I don't have that one *sad face time* yet so I made one out of the scalloped circle punch and oval punch - clever eh??  Cut the scalloped circle just over half, cut the bottom off of the oval and then voila, one cupcake :)

The cupcake is decorated with dots of glitter, liquid pearls and a few ball headed pins - neat huh :)

Hope you like it, see you again soon. 5. OMG I am in LOVE with this! I am a huge cupcake freak (not so much to eat them but decorations etc in cupcakes)! I MUST attempt this ASAP! I know my cupcake will not look nearly as nice as yours does but I'm going to give it a try. If all else fails I'll buy a fake cupcake at the craft store to put in it lol. Thank you so much for sharing this and for the directions. You really need to make videos of all your creations as I'm loving all your talent.
