Gift Card/Money Holder - B.Y.O.P - The Crafty Spark

Gift Card/Money Holder - B.Y.O.P

If you're giving money or a gift card it can be a bit boring to just put it in a card so why not put it in a fancy Gift Card Holder!  I originally saw this design on Nadine's blog HERE, she has instructions on her site but I wanted to alter the size so I've done my own tutorial on it.  Now I have to say, this uses what must be one of the best Stampin' Up! stamp sets..... the fabulous GORGEOUS GRUNGE!
At first sight it doesn't look too interesting but my word, the creations you can make with it!  I'm planning to do a whole series of cards and gifts using this set so keep checking back to see them.

You will need......

Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set
B.Y.O.P Stamp Set (you're going to love this one too!)
Sahara Sand card
Crumb Cake card (or Kraft card)
Whisper White card
Night of Navy Card
Sahara Sand Ink Pad
Crumb Cake Ink Pad
Night of Navy Ink Pad

And now to make it!

Begin by cutting your Sahara Sand card base to measure 6" x 11 5/8" (standard UK A4 length)
With the long edge against the top of your score board, score your card at 2", 3 1/4", 4 1/2" and 8 7/8"
Take your Envelope Punch Board and punch the end of your card at 1 1/2" and 4 1/2".  Make sure you punch the end of the card after the 8 7/8" score line.  Don't worry if you don't have the envelope punch board, you could just leave the edge straight and rely solely on the belly band to hold it closed.
Now fold your card as shown in the photos (you may want to refer back to Nadine's instructions here as hers are much better than mine!).  You'll then need to cut out a semi circle in the piece of card you have stuck together to make the pocket in which your money or gift card can go (ooops forgot to take a photo of this bit!)

Once you have your basic card holder done you are ready to start decorating it.  Now to do this I again used A4 sheets and cut them as follows:

You can decorate your white card either before of after you've cut it, personally I like to do mine before as I find it much easier but the choice is yours.  The totally brilliant thing about using the Gorgeous Grunge set is that as it's already a messy kind of pattern, you don't need to be precise in how or where you stamp with it!  So off you go..... do your thing...... stamp like a madman and totally enjoy making a legitimate mess :)

Stamp your base card using the stamps from the B.Y.O.P set and add any extras you fancy and then layer your cut card onto the card base using the Crumb Cake first followed by the white stamped card.

When you've finished all of the main part of the card you're ready to do your belly band which will help to hold it neatly closed.... hmm bizarre having 'neat' associated with 'grunge' isn't it!  But then I also added a bit of sparkly which is probably bizarre too..... OK ramble finished, where was I....... oh yes, belly bands, right to do this you will need to cut yourself a piece of navy card to measure 9 1/2" x 1 3/4" and score it at 2 1/4" and 6 3/4".  Fold the ends over and secure it in the middle.  Next stamp your B.Y.O.P onto a piece of Crumb Cake, cut it out and stick it on - I stuck mine on with dimensionals to give it a bit of a lift.
Finally, as I had the Birthday Surprise stamp set to hand, I stamped the 'surprise!' onto the back of the card holder just under where the belly band would cover it.
So there you have it, a much more fun way of giving money or a gift card don't you think?
