SpongeBob & Patrick aka Garden in Bloom with Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight

I sound like that annoying program title don't I!  It is for a good reason though...... it all started when I tripped up the stairs and came face to face with Patrick (the toy one not the real one)!  As you know he's pink and his BFF SpongeBob is yellow...... pink and yellow - what a brilliant combination :-)  Add to that one of my favourite sets, Garden in Bloom Stamp Set and that was me happy for the day ahead (I'm not that hard to please despite what my hubby says!).
Did you see Saturday's post where I showed you how to create your own pretty paper using the Garden in Bloom Stamp Set?  Well following that same method I stamped my two cards ready to send to a couple of friends of mine but this time I used Melon Mambo Ink Pad.

The second one I did a bit differently by using the Brick Wall Embossing Folder as a stamp and embossing folder combined.  Now this is by no means a new idea but one that works really well with this embossing folder....... let me show you

The first is the 'clean' method

(well, hopefully it is for you anyway, anything involving me and ink is FAR from clean!)

Grab your embossing folder and an ink pad, I've used my Smoky Slate Ink Pad for this card

Roll a brayer over the ink pad and then roll the inked up brayer over the RAISED LINES of the Brick Wall Embossing Folder

Pop your piece of cardstock into the embossing folder and run it through your Big Shot machine

When you take it out, the ink will have been stamped onto your cardstock by the lines from the embossing folder so that it looks like the cement grout between the bricks - good eh :)

Now the 'messy' method

(that's more like it!)

Same as before, you need your embossing folder and ink pad (duh!)

This time, instead of rolling the ink onto your embossing folder using a brayer, just use the stamp pad and gently tap it on to the embossing folder again putting the ink on to the raised lines side of the Brick Wall Embossing Folder.  You'll notice it also goes onto the recessed part of the embossing folder too - that's OK, it's what we want

Now when you run it through your Big Shot, the ink will leave the 'cement' lines as before but also colour the bricks in slightly too giving them a weathered look... looks really effective don't you think?  This card that I'm showing you a glimpse of is one I've done using my Crumb Cake Ink Pad rather than the Smoky Slate Ink Pad so a slightly different tone but looks just as great :)  I'll show you the rest of the card a bit later in case the lovely lady I've made it for sees it on here!

Isn't it easy to create these wonderful techniques!  Give it a go yourself and let me know how you get on :)

Isn't that yellow butterfly beautiful!  It's from the Butterflies Thinlits set and you can use it with almost any die cutting machine!
