Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Lea Denton - Autistic Child Vs Stampin' Up! Mother

Well after a few weeks off  I'm pleased to say things are very slowly getting back to normal!  Thank you all so much to those of you that have sent me such lovely messages - I've been receiving them from all over the world which totally amazed and humbled me at the same time.  I'm sorry that I haven't been able to respond to them all but please know I have read each and every one of them.  To know that so many people follow my crafting and YouTube videos is wonderful so thank you all again from the bottom of my heart :)

You may be wondering what's been going on.... well, quite a lot actually both personally and Stampin' Up!   Very briefly though - as some of you already know, a couple of my children have autism, one of them quite severely and unfortunately he's been having a very hard time lately so I've had to concentrate nearly all my time and energy on him.  Obviously both my Husband and I try to share the load but he still has to go to work so the majority of the care giving comes to me. Those of you with autistic children know how hard it can be emotionally and physically to support not only your child but your other children at the same time.  It's incredibly rewarding caring for a child with Special Needs but draining at the same time!

Having to spend nearly every waking moment with my son has left little time for crafting of any sort!  But that's what being a mother is all about really isn't it, we chose to bring our children into the world and it's up to us to love them and help them no matter what.  The title of this post is wrong really as it's not a case of one versus the other as there is no competition... my child is my world and autistic or not, he'll still be my world just as my other children are.  That's the good thing about Stampin' Up! though, you can work it around your family - you can just drop it when you need to and pick up again when you're ready.... well, I'm nearly ready!

During the past month though I am pleased to say I have been able to do a few bits a pieces that I wanted to do... I've been able to set up a VIP Facebook Group for all my wonderful customers, a Frequent Stamper Loyalty Reward Scheme for my customers to earn extra products as they spend, ran a Buy One Get One Free Sale for my customers, set up In Color 2016-2018 Clubs to help those needing to spread the cost of all the new products in the fabulous In Colors plus I've had another three ladies join my Crafty Cupcakes team, we had a great Catalogue Launch Party on Facebook for the team AND I have a number of classes planned which I'm just working out the finer details for so quite a lot going on behind the scenes so to speak!

  2. Hi Lea,
I'm so happy that things are getting back to normal for you. I have an autistic great grandson, so I have a rough idea of what you're going through. Like Cathy Haynes says, you are an amazing lady and mother, I don't think I could do what you do. All my best to you and your family...Ann in Canada

    1. Oh Judi, your wonderful words just brought tears to my eyes! Thank you so much for being such a wonderful friend to me. Your never ending support these past few months have been keeping me going. Some people just don't realise how deep the wounds can cut... as Lord Byron said "what deep wounds ever closed without a scar". Well the scars are all but done and I know now who the chameleons are!

We are a great team in every way possible Judi aren't we :D xxxxx
