Exploding Box Card for 22nd Birthday

My beautiful Daughter has a fabulous Partner who is a total GT-R nut and as it's his birthday, I decided an exploding box card with a GT-R inside would be a great card for him!

So without further delay, this is how I made it...

Crafty Spark Recipe Time yaaaayyyyyy :-)

4 pieces of card measuring:
1A 3 1/2" x 10 1/2"
1B 3 1/2" x 10 1/2"
2A 3" x 10"
2B 3" x 10"
One further piece measuring 6" x 6" - this will be your card lid

And now to Make it...

Score your card as shown in the photos, this will form the base of your card and has an allowance of 1/4" between the bottom and top layers of the card.

Lay 1A on top of 1B in a cross shape and stick together in the centre square.
Lay 2A on top of 2B and stick this in the centre square also.

Stick the two crosses together..... tah dah! One exploding box base made :-)

For the lid.... score and cut out (or notch to use the 'technical' term) as the photo shows then fold in the tab bits ('bits'... that's a technical term too did you know??) and glue them down.

One exploding box card made *round of applause for you*

The one I made for the Birthday Boy is made from Brushed Silver Card on the outside and lid and Hello Honey Card in the middle.  Did you see the stamp I used on the outside?  Isn't it brilliant - I'm sure I'll be using that one quite a bit.

This exploding box card is decorated with Sale-a-Bration 2015 Designer Series Paper and some glitter card I had handy.  This year's Sale-a-Bration has finished now which unfortunately for you, means that the fabby patterned paper and stamp set is no longer available (which is why it's showing as being £0.00 in the item list below) BUT the great new is, in true Stampin' Up! style, you can choose a different designer series paper safe in the knowledge that it will beautifully coordinate with the inks and card that Stampin' Up! sell!  How cool is that!
