Mug Exploding Box Card

exploding-box-cardYou may remember my with the gorgeous faux cupcake in the middle... well this one is the Mug Exploding Box Card!   This is a great way to give a mug as a gift :)  Mug boxes can be a bit boring can’t they so I thought I’d step it up a bit and make it a bit more jazzy.

Making this box is so easy, I would say though you really should use a wet glue (something like rather than tape to put it together.  Using will add to the strength because it hardens when it dries and lets face it, putting a heavy mug in a flimsy box is a bit daft!
Today I'm going to concentrate on the box itself and then on Monday I'll show you how to make the butterflies using the which includes the Stamp Set.

Crafty Spark Recipe

1 piece of measuring 8 1/8" x 8 1/8"

Start by scoring your cardstock at 3 3/4" and 7 3/4", fold and burnish your score lines then do the same on the other piece.  Lay one on top of the other in a cross shape and glue them together using your glue

Cut your into 8 pieces that measure 3 3/4" x 3 1/2" and 2 pieces that measure 3 3/4" x 3 3/4"
Layer the as shown in the photo and then cut your English Garden Designer Series Paper in to 8 pieces that measure 3 1/4" x 3 1/2" and 2 that measure 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" and layer these on top of your .  That's the base of your box now done.

For your lid, score your card on all sides at 2" rotating the 90 degrees each time.  This will ensure there is a tiny size difference between the base of the box and the lid so that your lid fits properly.  Cut and notch the tabs as show in the photos then stick your lid together.  Add the layers for the lid and you're finished :)....... well for today anyway!

And here's one made from the sadly retired Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper...
